Disclosed March 24, 2025. The group included the Defense Secretary, National Security Adviser, Vice President and others; strike timing was shared before the operation.
Senior national security officials discussed imminent strike timing on a commercial messaging app, with a journalist inadvertently included.

The National Security Adviser was later moved to a different post. A DoD Inspector General review examined the Defense Secretary’s use of the app. No prosecutions resulted.
